Pole Creek House
A dirt road runs past alpine meadows and cattle ranches before it climbs uphill winding through logdgepole pine forests. Ahead on a clearing, the frame of a wood colonnade extends into the trees forming the main entrance to the house.
In plan, the building masses of the main house rotate to form a protected 3-sided entry courtyard in the front and fan open to the panoramic views towards the Winter Park ski area.
The interior of the house is arranged with the living room as the anchor at the center. Walnut clad columns repeat the rhythm of the exterior structure and trees. At one end the master suite sits above the kitchen and dining room. At the other end, a separate staircase leads to three guest suites.
