Park House

The owners wished to transform the large and open back portion of the house that lacked definition. The resulting sitting room with fireplace is the focal point of the house. The space presented an opportunity to reshape the high ceilings and create a hearth. A simple composition of elliptical barrel vault with centered oculus window and fireplace belies the technical difficulties of lighting, acoustics, framing, and venting. The stone around the fireplace is a handpicked, single piece.
